The York Hinge: Making Light Work of Maintaining your Lighting/CCTV/Solar Cell Columns

The York Hinge allows lighting and other types of 65mm columns up to 6 metres in height to be retro-fitted with a cost-effective hinge that allows one man to maintain the light safely without the need for ladders or scissor lifts.

For many years, local councils have been maintaining street lamps using men and ladders. European legislation has  restricted the use of ladders to the point where many local authorities have now banned their use. The only alternative until now has been the expensive solution: a scissor lift with an operator and a machine controller.

The unique flexible rotational fitting capabilities of the York Hinge mean the column can be raised and lowered by a single operator, with security key, in a convenient direction to miss fixed obstacles such as trees and bushes etc. allowing the operator to clean the lamp and replace the bulb in minutes.

This gives a massive reduction in the cost of street light maintenance.

The York Hinge can be installed in approximately 30 minutes, minimizing impact on Public Access and safety.

We offer our customers training in fitting the hinges themselves and offer the easy-to-use fitting kit.
